Alby’s Café & Op Shop opened in August and has been a very exciting addition for our Aged Care Residents – it’s outside the facility and a different environment for our Residents to kick back and relax in our 50s theme café.
Here the Residents can sit and chat in our diner styled café – a checked floor, funky furniture and happy colours of red, yellow and blue feature predominately – wonderful music plays in the background.
Our Op Shop is well patronised – a selection of knick-knacks, stationery, jewellery, greeting cards and so much more are available to select – these items have been generously donated by Glengollan Staff Members and Residents’ families.
No payment required – this is an activity for our Residents enjoyment and our Staff enjoy it just as much!
The café operates on Tuesdays and the Op Shop fortnightly – both are run by our Lifestyle team.
If you would like to donate – please contact Reception for a list of accepted items.
Glengollan is fully committed to the safety of our residents and staff. We are working closely with all relevant Government departments to ensure we not only are following medical directives as they occur, but that we have robust processes and strategies in place to effectively manage the facility throughout the Covid-19 pandemic.
Glengollan Village is thrilled to announce the “soon to commence” Project of twelve luxurious Retirement Village Villa units (2 and 3 bedroom) in Storen Close Ferntree Gully.
A formal Sod Turning celebration was held in November, officiated by Nick Wakeling MP, MP State Member for Ferntree Gully Shadow Minister for Ageing and Child Protection Shadow Minister for Industrial Relations and Workplace Safety; assisted by Jake Keough, Councillor – Dobson Ward, Neville Sanders, President of the Glengollan board and John Hawkins.
Current resident, John Hawkins moved in as a resident in the village after selling his family home of near 60 years to Glengollan Village.
The project is planned to be completed late 2020, if you would like to view the plans and discuss life at Glengollan Village please contact us on (03) 9758 1093
Wednesday the 7th was National Aged Care Employee day. Glengollan feels very fortunate with the caring quality staff we have across all sections of the business.
The management team brainstormed ways we could show our appreciation and the decision was a ‘pop up’ coffee cart offering beverages and muffins during the day and a cooked meal for those working the night shift. We wanted the staff feel appreciated and by all feedback it was a hit. Hot beverages and muffins were consumed by our wonderful Glengollan team.
